Choose trust, closeness and commitment · D5.20

Ask what closeness would look like for each of you

You want more connection but do not want to assume the same kind of closeness suits both people.

Everyday practice

Try these steps

  1. Describe one form of connection you would welcome, such as conversation, shared time, affection, or practical support.
  2. Ask what the other person would welcome and what limits matter to them.
  3. Choose one mutually wanted way to connect, or leave the difference open without forcing a solution.

An example

I would enjoy spending time together without multitasking. What kind of time together would you like?

Reflect

Where did your preferences overlap, and where were they different?

Next time

Return to the question as preferences change; more disclosure is not automatically more intimacy.
