Choose trust, closeness and commitment · D8.18
Decide what level of trust fits the evidence
You want to consider trust without ignoring caution or feeling obliged to be open.
Everyday practice
Try these steps
- Name the specific thing you are considering trusting someone with: a task, a detail, a promise, or a responsibility.
- Look at relevant behavior over time, including kept agreements, broken agreements, and limits in what you know.
- Choose a boundary or a small next step that fits the evidence. Keeping distance is also a possible decision.
An example
They have returned borrowed items before. I might lend this book, while keeping financial information private.
Reflect
Does the decision fit the specific situation rather than an all-or-nothing judgment?
Next time
Review trust as behavior and circumstances change.
