Practise and check a useful ability · S15.21
Slow an ordinary task enough to notice its steps
You are rushing through a simple task and want to understand the sequence.
Everyday practice
Try these steps
- Choose a low-stakes familiar task and identify its next step.
- Perform that step at a comfortable pace without deliberately changing breathing or searching for an emotional release.
- Notice whether the slower pace clarified the task, then choose how to continue.
An example
I place the papers in order one at a time so I can see which is missing.
Reflect
Did pacing help with the practical task?
Next time
Use the pace that fits the task rather than a universal slow-movement rule.
