Build a cue and a small routine · D2.20

Attach a small habit to a meaningful cue

You want a repeatable action that serves something you care about.

Everyday practice

Try these steps

  1. Name the value and a small behavior that expresses it.
  2. Choose a naturally occurring cue that fits the behavior, plus an alternative for disrupted days.
  3. Try the pairing and notice whether the cue is reliable; missed attempts are information about the design.

An example

To support connection, I keep a reminder to check whether I want to send a friendly message after my weekly planning session.

Reflect

Did the cue and action fit your actual routine?

Next time

Change the cue or behavior if it becomes burdensome or loses its purpose.
