Prepare or review a boundary conversation · S8.12
Choose the conditions for a difficult boundary discussion
Past experiences affect how you want to approach a conversation about a limit.
Everyday practice
Try these steps
- Identify the conditions that would give you more choice, such as format, timing, company, distance, or deciding not to meet.
- Write what you would want to communicate and what you prefer to keep private.
- Choose support or another route if direct discussion does not feel appropriate. You do not need to rehearse past events to prepare.
An example
I would rather send a short message and talk it through with a trusted person first.
Reflect
Did the preparation increase your options without pressuring you to disclose or confront?
Next time
Revisit only when useful; this is preparation, not trauma processing or a comprehensive safety plan.
