Compare options and competing needs · D1.5
Compare practical solutions
You have defined a problem and need to choose an approach.
Everyday practice
Try these steps
- Write the desired result and the constraints a solution must respect.
- Generate two or three feasible options, including asking for help or changing the scope.
- Compare effort, likely benefit, and drawbacks; choose one next step and a way to tell whether it helped.
An example
For a missing document, I can search the shared folder, ask the sender, or recreate it; asking first costs the least effort.
Reflect
Which constraint most influenced the choice?
Next time
Review the result and change course if the option does not address the problem.
