Find what matters in a choice · S13.6

Find a value in an ordinary story

You want to understand what mattered in a recent decision.

Everyday practice

Try these steps

  1. Describe the choice and what you actually did.
  2. Identify a value that may have influenced it, alongside other motives or constraints.
  3. Decide whether you want to express that value similarly next time.

An example

I checked on a colleague because care mattered, while also needing to keep the conversation brief.

Reflect

Does the value fit the action without simplifying all your motives?

Next time

Use the insight in a future choice if helpful.
