Build a cue and a small routine · S3.18

Make a routine tangible

A physical cue or hands-on setup might make an ordinary routine easier to understand.

Everyday practice

Try these steps

  1. Choose a routine with a step that is hard to remember or picture.
  2. Make a simple physical guide: lay materials in order, sketch the steps, or place a reminder near the relevant object.
  3. Use the guide once and change anything that was confusing or added clutter.

An example

I’ll put the three materials in the order I need them rather than reread the whole instruction sheet.

Reflect

Was the guide useful, distracting, or unnecessary?

Next time

Keep only the parts that support the actual task.
