Adapt or restart a routine · D1.15

Plan for a routine setback

You want a backup plan for an everyday routine you are trying to maintain.

Everyday practice

Try these steps

  1. Name a foreseeable disruption and the early sign you would notice.
  2. Choose a smaller alternative or a way to restart that does not require making up for missed attempts.
  3. Write when you would ask for help or reconsider the routine entirely.

An example

If a busy week disrupts my filing routine, I can collect papers in one tray and sort them when time is available.

Reflect

Is the fallback easier than the original routine?

Next time

Update the fallback after a real disruption, without labeling it a relapse.
