Offer support while keeping limits · D5.9

Ask what support would fit a difficult moment

You or another person would like company or support during an emotional moment.

Everyday practice

Try these steps

  1. Ask what would help: listening, quiet company, practical help, space, or something else.
  2. Agree on what each person can offer, including the option to stop or take a break.
  3. Check whether the support still fits rather than assuming it should change the feeling.

An example

Would you like me to listen, help with the task, or give you some space?

Reflect

Did the support match the request without creating pressure to feel better?

Next time

Each person keeps responsibility for their own limits; seek additional support when needed.
