Describe yourself with room to change · S7.17

Choose how to describe yourself beyond an experience

You want a self-description that does not require recounting something difficult.

Everyday practice

Try these steps

  1. Select current roles, interests, preferences, or values you want included.
  2. Write a brief description using only details you wish to share.
  3. Leave the difficult experience in or out according to your purpose; no empowering story is required.

An example

I can introduce myself through my interests and current work without describing my history.

Reflect

Does the description feel chosen rather than imposed?

Next time

Change it for different settings and levels of privacy.
