Respond fairly to a mistake or setback · S6.16

Model a fair response to a mistake

Someone is watching how you respond to your own everyday error.

Everyday practice

Try these steps

  1. Name the mistake specifically without insulting yourself.
  2. Say what you can do to address it, including any apology or correction that is needed.
  3. Use the same respectful standard when someone else makes a comparable error.

An example

I sent the wrong attachment. I will send the correct one and explain the change.

Reflect

What did your words communicate about responsibility and respect?

Next time

Try the wording privately first if speaking it aloud feels unfamiliar.
