Replace an 'always' story with a specific relational account

A relationship narrative has become broader than the evidence.

Everyday practice

Try these steps

  1. Write the broad claim and the examples behind it.
  2. Add relevant exceptions, context, or unknowns without minimizing a real pattern.
  3. Describe the pattern precisely and state the change or boundary you want.

An example

Instead of 'You never tell me anything,' I say, 'I learned about the last two plan changes late; I need earlier notice.'

Reflect

Does the specific account make the issue clearer?

Next time

Update it based on behavior rather than requiring a positive shared story.
