State a comfort need without arguing with yourself

Physical discomfort is affecting what you are doing and you need an accommodation.

Everyday practice

Try these steps

  1. Describe the practical effect of the discomfort, such as difficulty sitting or concentrating, without trying to diagnose it here.
  2. Identify a change or support you want, such as a different position, a pause, or help deciding what care to seek.
  3. Make the request or take the appropriate next step; this exercise does not ask you to ignore symptoms or push through pain.

An example

I am uncomfortable in this chair. I would like to change seats or pause the meeting.
