Turn a value into a workable goal

You have a broad direction but want a concrete goal for the current situation.

Everyday practice

Try these steps

1. Name the value and a result you would like to work toward.
2. Choose a small goal you can describe clearly and identify what resources or support it requires.
3. Write a first action and a point at which you will review whether the goal still fits.

An example

Learning matters to me. I’ll choose one short course to compare with my available time before enrolling.

Reflect

Is the goal yours, and is it manageable with your current resources?

Next time

Change the goal without treating that as abandoning the value.
