Turn a value into a practical action · S5.7

Use an ordinary object as a values reminder

A visible or tangible reminder might help you remember an intention.

Everyday practice

Try these steps

  1. Choose an object or image that you personally associate with a value.
  2. Write the association in a sentence rather than assuming the object or a body sensation reveals the right choice.
  3. Place the reminder where it may be useful and link it to one optional action.

An example

This postcard reminds me of connection. I might use it as a cue to consider calling someone.

Reflect

Did the reminder fit your intention, or did it become background clutter?

Next time

Change or remove it if it is not useful.
